[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] "I am excited to meet the audience on my first Korean tour."
Cellist Choi Hayoung, who became the first Korean to win the cello category at the Queen Elizabeth Competition this June, will take the stage for a domestic tour.
After her first performance on the 14th at Busan Cultural Center, Choi Hayoung will perform a total of six times, visiting Jeju, Cheorwon, Gwangju, and concluding on the 20th at the IBK Chamber Hall of Seoul Arts Center. She is also scheduled to perform at the Ewha Fall Concert held at Ewha Womans University Grand Auditorium on the 21st.
Through the classical concert planning company SBU, Choi Hayoung expressed, "I am most grateful for the opportunity to realize projects I have always wanted to do after winning the competition. I am truly thankful to participate in various projects, from Bach’s unaccompanied programs to exchanges with young composers living in the contemporary era."
Choi Hayoung, who has always wondered what she would have done if not for music, said, "During the eight years I studied in Germany, I researched a lot to develop my musical voice and individuality. Moving forward, I want to find what I must do as a cellist and seek my path to contribute to the world through music."
The performances will feature collaborations with the KNN Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Seo Heetae, the New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra The Original led by conductor Adriel Kim, and the Ewha Philharmonic Orchestra led by Jeonju City Symphony Orchestra’s chief conductor Sung Giseon. Librecht Vanbeckevoort, the collaborative pianist of the Queen Elizabeth Competition and a past winner of the competition, will accompany as pianist.
