Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Promotes Yeosu Gwangyang Port at International Logistics Conference
Participation in the 2022 FIATA World Congress, Conducting Various Promotional Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced that it actively promoted Yeosu Gwangyang Port and attracted cargo volume by attending the ‘2022 FIATA World Congress’ held at BEXCO in Busan from the 14th to the 16th.
Held for the second time in Korea since 1995 (Seoul), this congress, under the theme ‘Uniting for Global Solution,’ was attended by over 2,000 logistics-related companies, associations, research institutions, and university students from more than 60 countries worldwide, solidifying its status as the ‘World Logistics Olympics.’
YGPA participated in this year’s congress and operated an exhibition booth for three days in collaboration with related organizations including Jeonnam Province, Yeosu Customs, Gwangyang City, and the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority.
Additionally, YGPA took part as a mentor in the ‘Young Logistics Professionals Day (YLPD)’ program, providing opportunities to strengthen port logistics capabilities and promoting Yeosu Gwangyang Port to 180 mentees, including logistics and maritime industry workers, related major university students, and startup employees.
During the three-day exhibition booth and B2B consultation period, YGPA promoted Yeosu Gwangyang Port’s unique position as Korea’s largest all-weather comprehensive port capable of handling most cargoes, from petrochemicals in Yeosu and steel cargo in Gwangyang to automobiles and containers, and as the number one port in Korea for import and export cargo volume.
In particular, YGPA actively publicized key projects to attract excellent domestic and foreign companies by providing information on plans for a fully automated terminal, the sale of port hinterland complexes such as the Sepung Industrial Complex, and various incentive programs.
Furthermore, President Park Seong-hyun attended the opening ceremony and the ‘Korea Night’ event on the 15th, directly promoting Yeosu Gwangyang Port to key figures including Ivan Petrov, President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, leading CEO-driven marketing efforts on the ground.
President Park stated, “This event held in Korea will serve as a cornerstone for Korea to become a top-tier logistics powerhouse through discussions and exchanges among global logistics experts. Especially, our Yeosu Gwangyang Port, as Korea’s number one smart convergence port in import and export cargo volume, will contribute to Korea becoming a leader in Asian maritime ports.”
Meanwhile, during the congress, YGPA plans to intensively carry out marketing to attract cargo volume to Yeosu Gwangyang Port in the second half of the year, targeting shippers, forwarders, and other industry groups identified through exhibition operations, B2B consultations, and the Young Logistics Professionals Day event.
