Hyundai Department Store Transforms 4th Floor of Sinchon U-Plex into a Secondhand Goods Specialty Hall Targeting MZ Generation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The so-called 'recommerce,' buying and selling secondhand goods, is emerging as a trend among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), and Hyundai Department Store is launching the industry's first dedicated secondhand goods section.
Hyundai Department Store announced on the 15th that it will renew and open the entire 4th floor of Sinchon U-PLEX as a secondhand goods exclusive zone called 'Second Boutique' on the 16th.
Second Boutique is located on the 4th floor of U-PLEX, covering an area of 806㎡ (244 pyeong). Representative brands include the secondhand clothing platform brand 'MarketinU,' the secondhand luxury platform 'Mivent,' the eco-friendly vintage lifestyle brand 'Regrizy,' and the luxury vintage watch curated brand 'Seoul Watch.'
MarketinU is the largest secondhand brand in Korea, and at recent pop-up events held at Pangyo branch and The Hyundai Seoul, over 80% of visitors were MZ generation customers, showing its popularity among young consumers. It continuously sells more than 6,000 pieces of secondhand clothing items such as Carhartt, Levi's, and Champion.
The eco-friendly vintage platform Regrizy sells vintage items such as jewelry, tableware, and perfumes from the U.S., Europe, and Japan. The secondhand luxury platform Mivent offers over 100 rare secondhand luxury items. The vintage watch specialist brand Seoul Watch showcases about 200 vintage luxury watches released from the 1960s to the 2000s. Clothing items are washed and sterilized through professional laundry services before sale, and luxury goods are selected and sold only after expert authentication.
