Isu Group Draws Attention with Upcycling Bag on New York Fashion Week Runway
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Isu Group announced on the 14th that bags made by upcycling vertical protective nets used at construction sites were featured on the runway of the ‘2023 SS New York Fashion Week’.
New York Fashion Week is one of the world's four major collections alongside Paris, London, and Milan. Recently, with increasing awareness of environmental protection due to abnormal climate conditions, fashion with the concept of 'sustainability' dominated this year.
Isu Group upcycled vertical protective nets used by its affiliate Isu Construction to produce tote bags, hobo bags, backpacks, and more. Through collaboration with the designer brand Ulkin, they added an eco-friendly meaning.
Many celebrities attended the fashion show, drawing attention. Donghyuk, a member of the idol group iKON, personally wore Isu Group’s upcycled bag, attracting interest from local fashion industry insiders.
Kim Semin, Executive Director of Innovation Strategy who led the project, said, "I believe Isu Group presented new possibilities for upcycling on the global stage of New York Fashion Week."
