Jeonnam Province Launches Safety Inspection of Underground Parking Lots in Apartment Complexes
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is launching a safety inspection of underground parking lots in apartment complexes.
According to the province on the 14th, this safety inspection will be conducted until the 26th targeting six cities and counties with many apartment complexes in the province, including Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Naju, Gwangyang, and Muan.
This initiative was promoted to prevent safety accidents like the flooding of an apartment underground parking lot in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, in advance.
The inspection targets are apartments built before April 2012 that are not subject to the water barrier equipment regulations stipulated in the "Regulations on Equipment Standards for Buildings" and apartment complexes near small streams. Target buildings will be selected for sample inspections.
The main items to be checked include ▲establishment of flood prevention measures ▲provision of water barriers and sandbags ▲operation of drainage pumps ▲installation of sumps and backflow prevention valves ▲securing evacuation routes ▲operation of alarm broadcasts and closed-circuit television (CCTV) ▲preparation of practical manuals and action guidelines in case of flooding ▲safety management plans and completion of safety education.
Items that can be immediately supplemented based on the inspection results will be addressed on-site, and facilities requiring repair or replacement will be given a correction deadline with follow-up checks on compliance.
If facilities are judged to be old or hazardous, a detailed safety diagnosis will be conducted through a safety inspection agency.
