Elderly, Disabled, and Young Children Enjoy Easier Visits to Taehwagang National Garden... Ulsan City Launches Pilot Operation of 'Barrier-Free Electric Tour Car'
Two Vehicles with 21 and 23 Seats for Transportation-Disadvantaged Introduced, Full Operation After Pilot
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A 'barrier-free electric sightseeing vehicle' capable of carrying wheelchairs has appeared at Ulsan Taehwagang National Garden.
Ulsan City announced on the 14th that it began a trial operation on the 13th to accommodate transportation-vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled.
The electric sightseeing vehicles currently in trial operation are two types: a 21-seater and a 23-seater. The 21-seater is a barrier-free vehicle that can carry 19 general passengers and 2 wheelchairs, while the 23-seater can accommodate 23 general passengers including the elderly.
The speed is 10 to 15 km/h, and the operation route is 2.6 km within the Taehwa District of Taehwagang National Garden.
Originally, the trial operation was planned to start in early September, but due to Typhoon Hinnamnor, the trial began on the 13th, with full operation scheduled from October.
Samho District in Nam-gu, a habitat for migratory birds, was excluded from the route considering noise caused by vehicle operation.
The fare is 2,000 KRW for adults, and 1,000 KRW for the disabled, elderly, and Ulsan citizens. Operating hours are from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
The 'barrier-free electric sightseeing vehicle' was introduced to support comfortable viewing of Taehwagang National Garden for seniors with mobility difficulties, disabled people, and children who find it hard to walk long distances.
Earlier, Ulsan City conducted a 'research service for improving internal circulation within the National Garden' together with the Ulsan Research Institute last year, confirming the need to introduce new transportation within the National Garden.
