The Hometown Love Donation System allows residents who have left Uiryeong to voluntarily donate to the county, receiving tax deductions and return gifts. For a donation of 100,000 KRW, donors can enjoy tax deduction benefits and return gifts worth about 30%, equivalent to 130,000 KRW in total benefits.
The county plans to use the donated funds as a ‘priming water’ for Uiryeong’s development to prevent ‘local extinction’ and simultaneously achieve the effect of revitalizing the local economy. Through this system, they also expect a ‘three birds with one stone’ effect, including the expansion of donation culture, supplementation of local finances, and improvement of residents’ welfare.
During the Chuseok holiday, the county distributed more than 1,000 promotional leaflets to hometown visitors and hung promotional banners at key locations in each village.
On the 11th, at the Folk Ox Fighting Competition venue, Uiryeong-gun and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation’s Uiryeong-gun branch jointly promoted the Hometown Love Donation System. The branch signed an agreement with Uiryeong-gun in August to successfully establish the system.
On that day, County Governor Oh Tae-wan and Branch Manager Shin Hae-geun faithfully fulfilled their roles as ‘one-day promotional ambassadors’ for the Hometown Love Donation System by distributing promotional leaflets and wet tissues to residents, hometown visitors, and tourists at the competition venue.
Governor Oh said, “We expect the Hometown Love Donation System to bring about an expansion of local finances and become the driving force for Uiryeong’s development over the next 50 years. Uiryeong-gun will honor and respect donors. We will raise the value of Uiryeong and present a greater Uiryeong to the donors.”
