Price Frozen but... iPhone 14 Also Rises as Exchange Rate Jumps

Apple Watch Also Appears in Over 1 Million KRW Range
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Due to the recent surge in exchange rates, the prices of Apple’s new products, including the iPhone 14, have also risen accordingly.
On the 8th (Korean time), Apple held an online event called 'Far out' and unveiled new products including the iPhone 14.
Initially, there were predictions that Apple would raise the price of the Pro models by $100 (about 138,000 KRW) compared to the previous generation, but contrary to concerns, the prices were set at the same level as the previous models. The iPhone 14 base model starts at $799 (about 1.11 million KRW), the iPhone 14 Plus at $899 (about 1.25 million KRW), the iPhone 14 Pro at $999 (about 1.38 million KRW), and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,099 (about 1.52 million KRW).
Although the local selling prices are the same as the iPhone 13, the recent sharp rise in exchange rates has effectively increased prices in countries outside North America, including South Korea.
The Korean retail prices announced by Apple on this day are ▲iPhone 14 base model starting at 1.25 million KRW ▲iPhone 14 Plus at 1.35 million KRW ▲iPhone 14 Pro at 1.55 million KRW ▲iPhone 14 Pro Max starting at 1.75 million KRW. The most expensive iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB model reaches 2.5 million KRW.
When the iPhone 13 was released domestically in October last year, the retail prices were ▲base model at 1.09 million KRW ▲iPhone 13 Pro at 1.35 million KRW ▲iPhone 13 Pro Max starting at 1.49 million KRW. Compared to the previous generation, the base model increased by 160,000 KRW, the Pro by 200,000 KRW, and the Pro Max by 260,000 KRW.
Other products unveiled by Apple on this day also saw slight price increases.
The AirPods Pro 2nd generation is priced at 359,000 KRW, which is 30,000 KRW higher than the 1st generation model released three years ago.
The Apple Watch Series 8, both the 41mm and 45mm models, increased by 100,000 KRW compared to the previous generation, priced at 599,000 KRW.
Among the new products, only the Apple Watch SE 2nd generation maintained its price, remaining at 359,000 KRW, the same as the model released two years ago.

Meanwhile, a super-premium Apple Watch priced in the 1 million KRW range has also appeared. The newly released Apple Watch Ultra is a sports and exploration-specialized model that combines durability and advanced features, with a domestic selling price of 1,149,000 KRW.
