View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] On the 7th, President Yoon Seok-yeol appointed former Saenuri Party (now People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Hee-kyung and former Secretary-General of the National Management Research Institute Jang Kyung-sang as the 1st and 2nd Political Secretaries of the Presidential Office, respectively. Kang In-seon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, was transferred to the Overseas Public Relations Secretary position, concurrently serving as overseas public relations and foreign press spokesperson. The spokesperson position will remain vacant for the time being, and the office will operate under a joint deputy spokesperson system with Lee Jae-myung and Cheon Hyo-jung.
Kim Dae-gi, Chief Secretary of the Presidential Secretariat, announced this reorganization plan of the Presidential Office during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon. First, former lawmaker Jeon was appointed as the 1st Political Secretary under the Political Affairs Office, and former Secretary-General Jang as the 2nd Political Secretary. Chief Secretary Kim explained, "These appointments have already been reported and anticipated by the media, so I will not provide detailed explanations."
The Presidential Office also announced organizational changes. The Digital Communication Secretary Office under the Civil Society Secretary Office was transferred to the Public Relations Office, and the Religious and Multicultural Secretary Office under the Civil Society Secretary Office was renamed the Social Sympathy Secretary Office.
The Public Relations Office will establish a new Overseas Public Relations Secretary Office along with the transfer of the Digital Communication Secretary Office. This position will concurrently serve as the foreign press spokesperson and will be held by spokesperson Kang In-seon. Although the spokesperson position will remain vacant for the time being, Deputy Spokespersons Lee Jae-myung and Administrative Officer Cheon Hyo-jung will fulfill the deputy spokesperson roles.

Jung Yong-guk, Secretary for Civil Complaints at the Prime Minister’s Office, was appointed as the Secretary for National Proposals under the Civil Society Secretary Office. Kim Dae-nam, Administrative Officer, and Jeon Seon-young, Senior Administrative Officer, will serve as acting Secretaries for Citizen Communication and Social Sympathy, respectively, under the Civil Society Secretary Office.
