Extension of Bus-Only Lane on Gyeongbu Expressway Until 1 AM During Chuseok Holiday
Extended Operation Hours and Enforcement on Gyeongbu Expressway During Chuseok Holiday... Enforcement from 8th to 13th
From 7 AM to 1 AM Starting the Day Before the Holiday
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 8th that it will extend the enforcement hours of the bus-only lane from the southern end of Hannam Bridge to Yangjae IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway, which is under Seoul's jurisdiction, from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. during the Chuseok holiday period to ensure smooth bus traffic and alleviate traffic congestion.
The operating hours of the bus-only lane on the Gyeongbu Expressway are usually from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., but during the Chuseok holiday period, they will be extended from 7 a.m. on the 8th, the day before the holiday starts, until 1 a.m. on the 13th, the day after the holiday ends.
Accordingly, fines for violations of the bus-only lane on the Gyeongbu Expressway may be imposed based on the number of times detected by three cameras on the northbound side and four cameras on the southbound side. According to the Road Traffic Act, vehicles allowed to use the bus-only lane on the expressway must be vehicles with nine or more seats and can only use the lane when there are six or more actual passengers. The fine for violations is 50,000 KRW for passenger cars and 60,000 KRW for vans.
Seoul City plans to inform drivers in advance about the extension of the bus-only lane operating hours through methods such as expressway electronic signboards and standing signs.
