Kakao Pay Securities Launches Stock Margin Trading Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] Kakao Pay Securities announced on the 7th that it has launched a stock margin trading service that allows customers to borrow the full or partial purchase amount by using their owned stocks as collateral when buying domestic stocks.
The stock margin trading service can be applied for immediately after setting the credit trading limit and conditions if you have a Kakao Pay Securities stock account.
The limit for the stock margin trading service is up to 2 billion KRW. The collateral maintenance ratio is 140%, and the repayment period is 90 days. If conditions such as the minimum collateral ratio are met, the repayment period can be extended without limit on the number of times or duration. Interest is calculated using the compound interest method, applying different interest rates for certain periods during the holding period from the time of credit purchase to repayment.
A user-centered collateral management function is also provided. It calculates the collateral ratio by reflecting not only listed domestic stocks but also foreign currency deposits and overseas stock items recognized as collateral by Kakao Pay Securities. When cash or stocks are deposited into the account, the automated collateral management system immediately reflects this in the collateral ratio. According to Kakao Pay Securities, this enables stable collateral management.
Various notification functions are also provided to ensure important information such as repayment necessity, maturity extension, and scheduled forced sale are not missed.
The stock margin trading service can be used by selecting "Credit" at the stage of entering the quantity and amount of stock purchase. The loan status can be checked in the "Account" section under the "Management" tab of the stock service. The collateral ratio is visualized at a glance to enhance user convenience.
A Kakao Pay Securities official said, "We launched the stock margin trading service to allow users who need additional funds for stock trading to manage collateral more stably," adding, "We plan to consider various services such as securities collateral loans and sales proceeds collateral based on user needs in the future."
