On the morning of the 6th at 6:30 a.m., Gu Bok-gyu, the governor of Hwasun-gun, convened heads of departments and divisions at the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters in the county office to assess the damage by sector and ordered swift recovery efforts.
Governor Gu visited sites including Samcheon Bridge in Hwasun-eup, Samgeori in Doam-myeon, fields in Chunyang-myeon, eel farms in Secheong-ri, Cheongpung-myeon, solar power facilities in Bangok-ri, Hancheon-myeon, the bridge in Yeondun-ri, Dongbok-myeon, and the village hall in Deokgok-ri, Dogok-myeon to check the extent of damage and recovery status.
Hwasun has 227 locations vulnerable to landslides, raising concerns about landslide damage, but it was confirmed that there was no significant damage.
Prior to this, following Governor Gu’s strong directive for proactive measures, residents in landslide risk areas across 13 towns and townships were evacuated in advance from the afternoon of the previous day, preventing major casualties.
Governor Gu visited the Deoksan Village Hall in Deokgok-ri, Dogok-myeon, where about 30 residents from landslide risk areas were evacuated, to check on the residents’ damage situation and listen to their opinions on future disaster countermeasures.
The county plans to install one check dam near Deoksan Village and promote a stream conservation project.
The county allowed 290 people from 204 households who had been evacuated in advance to return home as of 8 a.m. on the same day.
From early dawn, the Hwasun area, directly affected by Typhoon Hinnamnor, suffered damage including some road facilities, street trees, and 8 hectares of lodged rice paddies.
Governor Gu Bok-gyu said, “We will do our best to swiftly restore the damaged areas and support the affected residents,” adding, “We will prepare and implement mid- to long-term measures for areas that suffer frequent damage.”
