Typhoon Hinnamnor Damage Area Evacuation Drill Postponed
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] Mobilization training in some areas affected by Typhoon Hinnamnor has been postponed. The affected areas include the Chungcheong region, Honam region, Yeongnam region, and Jeju region.
On the 6th, the Ministry of National Defense announced, that mobilization training scheduled until the 8th will be suspended to ensure rapid rescue and recovery support in the areas damaged by Typhoon Hinnamnor.
In some parts of the Gyeonggi region (Yongin, Yangju, Gimpo, Pyeongtaek), mobilization training will also be delayed. The rest of the metropolitan area and Gangwon region will proceed with mobilization training as usual. The postponed mobilization training will resume after the Chuseok holiday. The Ministry of National Defense also designated 15 search and rescue units composed of army, navy, and air force helicopters and transport aircraft to support search and rescue operations on land and at sea. Additionally, seven rapid disaster response units have been designated to carry out missions such as rescuing isolated residents and transporting emergency patients.
In the case of the Marine Corps, the 1st Marine Division in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, deployed two Korean Amphibious Assault Vehicles (KAAV) and three inflatable boats (IBS) from 6:30 a.m. on the same day to conduct civilian rescue operations.

The Ministry of National Defense issued a Level 3 Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters alert at 5 p.m. the previous day to respond to the northward movement of Hinnamnor. So far, military damage has been assessed as minor, including the shutdown of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems and fence damage.
