Jeju Air Holds Used Clothing Donation Event with Employee Participation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Jeju Air held an event on the 6th to collect used clothes from employees and donate them to the Beautiful Store Foundation as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities to help employees reduce carbon emissions through resource circulation.
Jeju Air conducted a used clothing donation event for its employees from the 16th of last month until this day, and decided to deliver the collected clothes to the Beautiful Store Foundation. Approximately 108 employees participated in the donation event during this period, collecting a total of 1,146 items, including 1,132 pieces of clothing and 14 accessories. The estimated carbon reduction from this donation is about 223 kgCO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent; the amount of greenhouse gases converted to carbon dioxide emissions), which corresponds to the amount of carbon absorbed by 26 thirty-year-old pine trees over one year.
Starting with this used clothing donation event, Jeju Air plans to continue donation activities in cooperation with various external organizations to help employees practice carbon emission reduction through resource circulation. Additionally, the airline will continue campaigns aimed at customers onboard to reduce carbon emissions, such as using tumblers, eco-bags, and mobile boarding passes.
