Change of Title from ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City’s Best Artisan’ to ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Master’
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City plans to discover and select the ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Masters of the Year’ for skilled technicians who have made significant contributions to the development of skilled technology and the improvement of skilled technicians' status in the local industrial field.
The selection fields and occupations cover 38 fields and 92 occupations, including mechanical design, mold, and material development.
The number of selected individuals is up to five, and the selected candidates will be awarded a master certificate and a master plaque.
In addition, a technology encouragement fund of 2 million KRW per year for five years, totaling 10 million KRW, will be provided, and the recipients will be registered in the ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Masters Hall of Fame.’
The Ulsan City Master is a skilled technician who has worked in the same field and occupation in the industrial field for more than 15 years, possesses the highest level of skilled technology, and has contributed to the development and improvement of skilled technology and status. Selection is made through document screening, public opinion collection, on-site evaluation, interview screening, and final evaluation.

To boost the pride of local skilled technicians, the city changed the title from ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Supreme Artisan’ to ‘Ulsan Metropolitan City Master.’
Also, starting this year, the technology encouragement fund provided to the selected Ulsan Metropolitan City Masters has been increased by 5 million KRW, from a total of 5 million KRW over five years to a total of 10 million KRW.
