[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development announced on the 6th that delegations from various countries participating in the 58th World Landscape Architects Congress visited the future garden city "Solarisdo" located in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do on the 3rd.
Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development is a special purpose corporation (SPC) jointly established by Hanyang, Boseong Industry, Jeonnam Province, and Haenam-gun for the development of Solarisdo. The International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), which hosted this event, is an international organization with 70,000 landscape architects worldwide as members, and it tours various countries every year.
After completing the 2-night, 3-day conference schedule from the 31st of last month to the 2nd of this month, the delegations conducted a post-tour program to inspect Solarisdo. Solarisdo is a new environmental future city being developed by Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development in the Haenam-gun area, with energy, garden, and smart as its core concepts.
The most distinctive feature of Solarisdo is that it realizes a "city within a garden." Unlike conventional garden cities where parks are artificially placed between houses and buildings, Solarisdo incorporates the city while preserving the natural environment as much as possible in its original place. A company official stated that it is a special case where landscape architects have realized a city, similar to Washington DC in the United States, which was inspired by the gardens of the Palace of Versailles in France.
The gardens embody the characteristics of nine themes throughout the entire city. These include the "Garden of the Sun," symbolizing the coexistence of people, nature, and energy; the "Mountain Garden," a complex cultural space; and the "Starlight Garden" of Solarisdo Golf & Village, which is planned as a large-scale residential complex.
In particular, the Garden of the Sun was recognized for its excellence by receiving the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award (private sector) at the 12th Korea Landscape Awards hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korean Society of Landscape Architecture last month.

A representative of Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development said, "In the current reality facing various issues such as the climate crisis, pandemic, and regional extinction, creating a new environmental garden city for future generations can be considered the responsibility and duty of the current generation," adding, "We will work with a sense of responsibility so that Solarisdo can present a new standard for future cities."
