Canada '28 Injured or Killed' Stabbing Attacker Found Dead... "One Remaining Suspect on the Run"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] One of the two suspects who carried out a stabbing rampage in Saskatchewan, southwestern Canada, resulting in at least 28 casualties, was found dead, AP News reported on the 5th (local time).
According to the report, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced at a press conference that Damian Sanderson (31) and Miles Sanderson (30), the two suspects in the Saskatchewan stabbing incident that occurred the previous day, found Damian dead. Evan Bray, Chief of Regina Police Service, said the body of suspect Damian was found in the bushes and that at this point, it does not appear to be self-inflicted.
The day before, the two suspects in Saskatchewan carried out a stabbing rampage that resulted in 10 deaths and 18 injuries. The suspects fled immediately after the crime, and although Canadian police pursued them promptly, they had not been arrested even after a full day had passed. One of the suspects was found dead.
The police stated that the remaining suspect, Miles, is currently on the run and appears to be injured. The police warned that even if the suspect is injured, there is a possibility of receiving medical treatment and that he could still be dangerous. It was confirmed that Miles had been wanted since May for other criminal charges.
AP reported that Canadian police revealed for the first time that the two suspects were brothers. When asked whether the injury that caused Damian’s death was inflicted by Miles, the police responded, "It is difficult to confirm."
The motive for the crime is not precisely known, but there is speculation that drugs may have been involved. The police are conducting extensive searches in nearby areas and have advised residents to evacuate to safe places and avoid contact with suspicious individuals.
Such a large-scale murder incident is rare in Canada, and foreign media have described this case as "the most heinous attack in modern Canadian history."
