Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical Lemona Wins '2022 Brand of the Year Award' for 17 Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Kyungnam Pharmaceutical (CEO Hong Sanghyuk) announced on the 6th that its vitamin C brand ‘Lemona’ has won the ‘2022 Brand of the Year Award.’
The ‘2022 Brand of the Year Award’ is a nationwide consumer vote held annually to select the best brands and products. ‘Lemona’ has won first place in the domestic ‘vitamin preparation’ category for 17 consecutive years and has recorded 8 consecutive years of awards in China’s ‘inner beauty’ category.
Launched in August 1983 as the first domestic effervescent vitamin C product, ‘Lemona’ is a representative long-lasting domestic brand celebrating its 39th anniversary this year, with steady popularity, selling over 160 million packets annually on average.
Lemona is an effervescent vitamin containing 500mg of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), 2mg of vitamin B₂ (riboflavin), and 5mg of vitamin B? (pyridoxine hydrochloride) per packet (2g). It uses coated Zephy Ascorbic Acid, which has less vitamin oxidation, and through Kyungnam Pharmaceutical’s unique know-how, the fine coating is specially treated to reduce sourness, making it easy for people of all ages to consume comfortably.
The yellow metal tin that comes to mind when thinking of Lemona was first introduced in 1993. Since the cylindrical case consisting of 100 packets became the traditional Lemona packaging, various attempts have been made to meet consumer needs in packaging and composition, such as the 70-packet heart can and the 150-packet square can.
