On the 6th, the party decided to replace the summons for party leader Lee Jae-myung, who is scheduled to be summoned by the prosecution, with a written investigation instead of complying with the summons request.
On the 5th, the Democratic Party held a party meeting at the National Assembly to discuss the special prosecution related to the First Lady and the response to the prosecution's summons request for Lee Jae-myung, concluding as such. Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, stated, "In a situation where new circumstances have emerged regarding the stock manipulation case related to the First Lady, increasing public suspicion, investigative agencies have consistently been lenient," adding, "We believe it is reaching a stage where public suspicion cannot be resolved, so the Democratic Party has agreed to push for a special prosecution law concerning issues such as stock manipulation and false career claims related to the First Lady." The response related to the special prosecution will be entrusted to the Democratic Party's floor leadership.

Previously, Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-min had proposed a bill for a special prosecution law on Kim Geon-hee, which includes five allegations: stock manipulation suspicions involving Deutsche Motors, falsification of career, bribery-like sponsorships for exhibitions, budget waste in the presidential residence interior construction, and suspicions related to accompanying civilian overseas trips. Until now, the Democratic Party had maintained that Kim's bill was not the party's official stance. With the agreement to push for the special prosecution at this party meeting, the special prosecution law will now be pursued as the party's official position.

Floor leader Park said, "The prosecution's summons date related to Lee's election law case is approaching tomorrow. The party leadership exchanged preliminary opinions last night and this morning, and their views were almost unanimous. After meeting with senior lawmakers with four or more terms at lunch today, the same conclusion was reached," adding, "At this point, it is not appropriate for the party leader to comply with the summons and appear for investigation by the prosecution. We agreed to actively recommend and request the party leader to replace it with a written investigation."
