According to Gyeonggi Province on the 6th, the 'Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)' is a system that efficiently manages traffic information based on advanced technology and enhances efficiency and safety through scientific and automated operations.
The province was selected for the '2023 Local Government Intelligent Transportation System National Subsidy Project' led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, securing a total project budget of 9.6 billion KRW, including 5.76 billion KRW in national funds to invest in building a Gyeonggi Province-type intelligent transportation system.
Last year, the province secured a total project budget of 15 billion KRW, including 9 billion KRW in national funds, laying the foundation for the first phase of the 'Gyeonggi Province ITS Advancement Project.'
With this, the province will be able to accelerate the introduction of the intelligent transportation system for the 'Gyeonggi Province ITS Advancement Project' with a total of 24.6 billion KRW including next year’s project budget.
In the first year of the project, this year, the province is promoting the expansion of the emergency vehicle priority signal system in cities and counties that have not yet established ITS, pilot operation of the metropolitan emergency vehicle priority signal system, and the construction of a traffic big data platform.
Starting from the second phase next year, the province plans to expand the system throughout the province by extending the 'Metropolitan Emergency Vehicle Priority Signal System,' which was first piloted nationwide in the Goyang?Paju section.
The 'Metropolitan Emergency Vehicle Priority Signal System' is a system that helps emergency vehicles such as ambulances receive green signals and pass through without obstruction to large city hospitals nearby, regardless of regional boundary divisions.
Additionally, the province plans to introduce a 'Parking Vacancy Information' system by integrating public parking lot information from 14 cities and counties, including Suwon and Goyang, into the provincial system to provide it to residents.
The province is also planning to revamp the 'Traffic Information Display System' by linking and integrating traffic data and emergency vehicle dispatch status within the province to the provincial traffic information center, and designing a system to display this data.
