Nexon 'Hit2' Early Success...Top 3 Revenue Competition
Ranked No.1 in Apple App Store Sales Within 12 Hours of Official Release
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Nexon's new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'HIT2' has surpassed NCSoft's 'Lineage siblings' to claim the number one spot in domestic Google Play revenue rankings.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, HIT2 first entered the Google Play charts at 6th place on the 27th of last month and steadily climbed the ranks to reach number one within a week of its release. The game, which officially launched on the 25th of last month, also achieved the top spot in Apple App Store revenue within 12 hours of release, marking a strong initial performance.
'HIT2' is the official sequel to Nexon's flagship mobile intellectual property (IP) 'HIT,' reborn as an MMORPG that features large-scale field battles and siege warfare as its main content. It aims to provide an expanded experience through participatory systems such as the 'Arbiter's Altar,' where users can directly set server rules.
Notably, HIT2's high revenue is significant because it achieved this without BJ (one-person media host) promotions, which many other game companies conduct. Instead of promotions, HIT2 introduced a 'Creator Support' program, where a portion of the money spent by players goes to creators. Before launch, 194 creators were selected as the first group and officially registered; these creators play the game in various ways alongside HIT2 users through broadcast content.
There was considerable controversy on the way to reaching number one. After its release, HIT2 was evaluated as 'Lineage-like' due to its payment structure being similar to the Lineage series. Because of this, it has received relatively low ratings in app markets. Early on, dissatisfaction arose when many users were banned for illegal accounts during 'rerolling' (the process where users repeatedly play to receive initial rewards).
Currently, Nexon has been fully committed to raising user satisfaction by actively addressing feedback from users since the service opened, promptly reflecting improvements and providing guidance.

Meanwhile, thanks to HIT2's strong performance, the top revenue competition has solidified into a three-way battle among NCSoft, Nexon, and Kakao Games. As of this date, the Google Play top revenue rankings show HIT2 in first place, followed by Lineage M and Lineage W (NCSoft) in second and third, Odin: Valhalla Rising (Kakao Games) in fourth, Lineage 2M (NCSoft) in fifth, and Uma Musume Pretty Derby (Kakao Games) in sixth.
