Yoon Appoints Lee In-ho as Vice Chairman of National Economic Advisory Council and Lee Woo-il as Vice Chairman of Science and Technology Advisory Council

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 1st, President Yoon Seok-yeol appointed Lee In-ho, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, as Vice Chairman of the National Economic Advisory Council, and Lee Woo-il, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Seoul National University, as Vice Chairman of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council.
In a press release distributed on the same day, the Presidential Office described Vice Chairman Lee In-ho as "a person recognized for his experience, expertise, and scholarship in microeconomics, finance, and economic policy," and stated, "As an economist who values the creativity of private economic agents and is highly respected in academia, he is the right person to provide policy recommendations that can inject creativity and dynamism into our economy together with the appointed advisory members of the National Economic Advisory Council."
Born in Seoul, Vice Chairman Lee In-ho graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, earned a master's degree in Management Science from Yale University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from UCLA. He has served as president of the Korean Economic Association and the Korean Financial Information Society.
Regarding Vice Chairman Lee Woo-il, the office stated, "He is regarded as a scholar with high academic knowledge, expertise, and administrative ability. He has served as president of the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies, a leading domestic science and technology organization, and is recognized for his expertise in science and technology policy and broad communication skills," adding, "We expect him to provide effective advice on the science and technology innovation policy direction of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."

Vice Chairman Lee Woo-il was also born in Seoul. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University and earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He has served as Vice President for Research at Seoul National University and Vice Chairman of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, and currently serves as president of the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies.
