This special crackdown will be carried out from the 8th to the 13th of next month, linking sea and land operations through patrol vessels, police substations, control rooms, and the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) to conduct a comprehensive crackdown on drunk navigation at major ports and on the sea.
The targets of the crackdown include all vessels such as fishing boats, pilot boats, fishing charter boats, passenger ships, cargo ships, and water leisure equipment.
Prior to this, from September 1st to 7th, the maritime police will carry out publicity and guidance activities targeting maritime workers and the public to raise awareness of the dangers of drunk navigation and enhance safety consciousness.

A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, “Drunk navigation is a criminal act that threatens the lives and property of others,” and added, “We will do our best to establish maritime traffic order so that the public can use the sea routes safely during the Chuseok holiday.”
