This meeting took place during Deputy Director Thien's visit to Korea to attend an invited training program under Statistics Korea's human resource capacity building project for Vietnam's statistics this year. Statistics Korea is conducting a free aid project aimed at strengthening human resource capacity for the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
This Vietnam free aid project, which aims to improve the quality of Vietnam's statistics and strengthen human resource capacity, began this year after a preliminary feasibility study and consultations with the General Statistics Office of Vietnam since 2020. A project launch briefing was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, last May.
Commissioner Han said, "This year marks the meaningful 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries," adding, "Since signing the memorandum of understanding for cooperation in 2002 with the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, we have collaborated in various statistical fields."
He continued, "We will spare no effort to support the advancement of Vietnam's statistical services by successfully carrying out this year's Vietnam free aid project, including establishing a master plan, providing statistical quality management consulting, and conducting training," and added, "I hope this training will further strengthen Korea-Vietnam statistical cooperation and serve as an opportunity to activate exchanges between the two countries."
