Hapcheon-gun Successfully Concludes the 61st Gyeongnam Provincial Sports Festival with Excellent Results
Overall 1st Place in 2 Events, 2nd Place in 7 Events, 3rd Place in 4 Events
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, concluded a four-day grand journey with excellent results from 550 athletes participating in 22 events at the 61st Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival.
In this competition, Hapcheon-gun demonstrated improved skills across all events compared to last year’s competition, achieving overall 1st place in marathon and ground golf (demonstration), overall 2nd place in basketball, volleyball, judo, archery, golf, jokgu, and park golf (demonstration), and overall 3rd place in soccer, soft tennis, bowling, and baduk.
Multiple champions emerged as well. In athletics, Oh Jeong-hee, who won gold medals in the women’s general 400m relay, 5000m, 1600m relay, and 10km marathon, became a four-time champion, while Park Young-seon, who won in the 400m relay, 800m, and 1600m relay, became a three-time champion.
Additionally, athletes Son Han-song, Jo Mi-kyung, Kim Ji-eun in athletics, and Seo Moon-byeong-gwan in shooting each earned two championships, elevating the county’s prestige.
On the 27th, County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol and Sports Association President Kim Hae-eun visited the venues of the heated competitions to encourage athletes and coaches and wish them success. Under the support and interest of the county and the sports association, the athletes achieved good results, delivering a pleasant gift to the citizens weary from COVID-19.

Since this competition was held normally for the first time since 2019 amid the resurgence of COVID-19, no overall city or county rankings were assigned to prioritize the safety of the athletes.
