FKCCI Holds Special Lecture on Construction Jobs for Middle-Aged and Older Reemployment
Middle-aged and Senior Job Hope Center Conducts Construction Industry Job Understanding and Construction Site Job Introduction Sessions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] On the 30th, the Middle-aged Job Hope Center under the Small and Medium Business Cooperation Center of the Federation of Korean Industries held a special lecture titled "Various Jobs at Construction Sites" to present alternatives for middle-aged job seekers hoping for reemployment.
This special lecture was organized to resolve the job mismatch caused by negative perceptions related to construction sites. According to the Construction Workers' Mutual Aid Association, the average monthly salary at construction sites is 3.34 million KRW, which is higher than the desired monthly salary of 2.72 million KRW for middle-aged job seekers. However, there is still a shortage of 214,609 domestic workers at construction sites. The goal of the lecture is to improve this situation by supporting middle-aged job seekers with information on construction industry jobs, recruitment, and free training programs.
On the day of the event, about 70 middle-aged job seekers aged 40 and above interested in construction jobs filled the lecture hall. Since 160 people pre-registered for the special lecture, the Federation of Korean Industries' Middle-aged Job Hope Center plans to hold an additional lecture on September 1st at the Seoul Southern Employment Center.

Park Cheolhan, Director of the Small and Medium Business Cooperation Center at the Federation of Korean Industries, said, "Since the spread of COVID-19, the structure of the labor market itself has been changing, and middle-aged job seekers are struggling due to a lack of information on where and how to find job opportunities. If they know various job information and actively seek employment, it can reduce unemployment periods and make economic activities through reemployment a driving force to prepare for the second act of life."
