Naver Whale Launches Global Expansion... Partners with Vietnam's Largest Edutech Company
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver Whale is advancing globally by leveraging its advanced edutech technology.
On the 30th, according to Naver, it recently signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Building a Smart Education Environment in Vietnam Using Whale Space and Whalebook" with Phenikaa Group, the largest edutech company in Vietnam.
Phenikaa Group is an IT and edutech company engaged in IT technology businesses such as autonomous driving, and operates Phenikaa University located in Hanoi, Vietnam, as well as elementary, middle, and high schools, developing attendance systems and LMS (Learning Management System).
Naver and Phenikaa Group have agreed to develop and launch the Whale Space platform tailored to the local educational environment in Vietnam. Whale Space provides various educational solutions in a web environment. Users can continuously utilize solutions anywhere with a single Whale Space account. About 50 educational solutions are currently offered on Whale Space in Korea.
In particular, in Whale Space, administrators can set the types and scope of solutions that members can use, and the rights to data generated here belong to the educational field, not the platform. Since schools can directly configure the solutions and interfaces provided to students and design educational plans based on data, it has received positive responses in domestic educational settings. In fact, Whale Space is collaborating with all 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education in Korea, and the Chungnam Office of Education is researching the potential for personalized education based on Whale Space data.
Based on this technical design, domestic education offices also optimize Whale Space for their independent educational environments. The integrated education platforms "iTalkTalk," "MetaSchool," and "Majuon" of the Gyeongnam Office of Education, Jeonnam Office of Education, and Chungnam Office of Education are cases where Whale Space was independently built to fit the identity of the educational field. Naver plans to ensure that Whale Space becomes a platform reflecting the characteristics of educational sites in Vietnam as well.
Furthermore, Naver plans to provide opportunities for various domestic edutech solution startups currently partnered with Whale Space to expand into Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, through this collaboration. It will actively engage in partnerships and development discussions with local technology solution companies. Discussions on the potential introduction of the device "Whalebook," which synergizes with Whale Space, are also planned.

Kim Hyo, Naver Whale’s lead manager, said, "This agreement is a case recognizing the global growth potential of Naver’s edutech business conducted domestically," adding, "We will do our best to make Whale Space an open edutech platform that can incorporate the educational characteristics of each global region."
