View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Rep. Cho Kyung-tae of the People Power Party demanded the resignation of Rep. Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, on the 28th, urging the formation of a new floor leadership team.
At a press conference held at the National Assembly Communication Office that day, Rep. Cho held Rep. Kwon responsible for the series of events in which the party leadership became vacant due to the court's suspension of duties decision against People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman Joo Ho-young. Regarding the decision made at the members' meeting the previous day that "the floor leader's position will be determined by the members' meeting after resolving this situation," he pointed out, "The current leadership's incompetence has been fully revealed."
Rep. Cho criticized, "The initial handling of Representative Lee Jun-seok was not sophisticated," and added, "Self-interest took precedence in the basic idea behind the recent transition to the Emergency Response Committee." He continued, "The public can see everything, so why can't they feel it themselves?" and said, "Their true colors have been exposed." He particularly criticized the phrase "after resolving the situation" regarding Rep. Kwon's position, saying, "There is no end in sight," and asked, "How long will this amateurism be repeated?"
He predicted, "If things continue like this, a catastrophe is inevitable." He pointed to the exposure of text messages exchanged between Floor Leader Kwon and President Yoon Seok-yeol to the media, procedural legitimacy issues during the formation of the Emergency Response Committee, and drinking at a members' workshop despite a drinking ban. Rep. Cho criticized, "The President earnestly shouted 'Fighting,' but the party did not respond," and said, "They acted like energy vampires behind the scenes."
He expressed concern that "the incompetence of this leadership will directly affect the passage of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's first budget bill, the amendment of the government organization act, innovation in private sector regulations, and the promotion of the three major reforms in pensions, labor, and education."

Rep. Cho stated, "It is faster and cleaner to form a new floor leader and leadership team to resolve the situation," and said, "Only a new leadership is the answer." He urged, "For the national governance principle of fairness and common sense to succeed, our party must first practice politics of fairness and common sense."
