[Asia Economy Reporter Han Ye-ju] Samsung Electronics visited the South Pacific island nation of Fiji to promote its commitment to local economic and educational contributions and to request cooperation for hosting the '2030 Busan World Expo.'
According to Samsung Electronics on the 28th, Lee In-yong, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Samsung Electronics, delivered the keynote speech at the '2022 Korea-Fiji Business Forum' held on the 24th (local time) in Suva, the capital of Fiji.
The 'Korea-Fiji Business Forum' is an event jointly hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Fiji, the Fiji Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, the Fiji Investment Corporation, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). It was organized to bring together government and private sector officials to discuss opportunities for business cooperation between the two countries.
On that day, Lee In-yong introduced Samsung Electronics' eco-friendly efforts under the theme of 'Technology for Humanity,' including the development of Galaxy recycled materials using discarded fishing nets.
He also explained Samsung Electronics' global educational social contribution activities such as 'Solve for Tomorrow' and the 'Samsung Innovation Campus,' which nurture future generations equipped with digital capabilities in various countries. He conveyed a message of contributing to the economic and social development of South Pacific island countries like Fiji based on 'Technology for Humanity,' including eco-friendly initiatives and digital education.
Lee met consecutively with Faiyaz Koya, Minister of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport of Fiji, and Premila Kumar, Minister of Education, explaining Samsung Electronics' innovative technology cases and social contribution activities, while also requesting support for the bid to host the '2030 Busan World Expo.'
