Gyeongsang National University has about 450 international students enrolled from approximately 30 countries across Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania. Every year, students enroll under various qualifications such as self-funded undergraduate and graduate studies, exchange students, joint degree programs, Future Global Leaders Program (FGLP) for developing countries, and Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (GKS).
The International Students Association is a student autonomous organization established voluntarily by international students, playing a significant role in global cultural exchange, adapting to study abroad life, and protecting the rights and interests of international students. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face activities became difficult, forcing the suspension of previously held programs.
The Office of External Cooperation at Gyeongsang National University has continuously communicated with international students to resume the activities of the International Students Association, which had been temporarily halted due to COVID-19, and to revitalize global cultural exchange. As a result, representatives from student communities of China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India, and Indonesia?each with more than 10 enrolled students?reorganized the International Students Association and elected the executive board.
Starting from the second semester of the 2022 academic year, the newly launched International Students Association will be led by President Seo Chim and Vice President Ahmad Riaz. The executive board consists of seven members in total, including two general affairs directors, one sports director, one public relations director, and one events director.
The newly elected International Students Association will be active for one year from September 1 to August 31 of the following year. They will assist with international student-related events hosted by the Office of External Cooperation and independently plan and hold sports and cultural events.
On the morning of the 26th at 10 a.m., the Office of External Cooperation held the appointment ceremony for the International Students Association executives in Room 312 of the BNIT R&D Center on the Gajwa Campus.
