View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party and considered one of the next party leadership candidates, said he read the court petition by former leader Lee Jun-seok, in which he was mentioned, with interest and stated that there is "no room for debate" regarding the dismissal of the injunction.
On the 25th, Kim appeared on YTN Radio's 'News King Park Ji-hoon' and said, "I found the petition interesting."
Earlier, former leader Lee pointed out in his petition that "figures such as Kim Ki-hyun and former floor leader Joo Ho-young, who have made inertia their creed, are showing a level of confidence that challenges the authority of the court regarding the injunction application." In response, Kim replied on social media with the phrase "a grenade with the safety pin pulled."
Regarding the content of former leader Lee's petition, he said, "Everyone sees the world according to their own perspective. It's all about personal interpretation, so I just laughed thinking, 'Oh, there are people like that,'" and "from a common-sense standpoint, there are cases where it would be problematic to go beyond this level." This implies that the content of former leader Lee's petition is read as exceeding common sense.
Kim said, "Looking at the (injunction) issue itself, there is no room for debate," and added, "From my general legal professional common sense, there is absolutely no possibility that this would be accepted, and when I said that, former leader Lee called it a 'challenge to the authority of the court.'"
He continued, "If you tell the court 'the injunction should be dismissed,' that is a challenge to the court's authority, but if you demand an injunction decision saying 'the court should accept this,' is that a petition?" and added, "It's a very convenient interpretation."
Regarding the talks within the party about the 'end of January to early February' party convention, he said, "I have consistently said that when the party is in difficulty, it is right to normalize the party leadership as soon as possible through a party convention," and "it is by no means desirable for the party to continue in an abnormal state while supporting the president's various state affairs."

About the upcoming Democratic Party convention scheduled for the 28th, he emphasized, "The Democratic Party is currently the absolute majority opposition party with nearly 170 seats, and their party leadership is a heavily armed 'elite standing army,'" and "compared to that, our party is the ruling party but a minority with only 115 seats, so in any standing committee or plenary session, we are in a disadvantaged situation where we cannot handle anything alone, so should the party leadership have been organized as a temporary reserve force?"
