Gokseong-gun Wins Grand Prize at the 4th Korea Cultural Value Awards
Four Consecutive Years of Award Wins Since 2019
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Jeonnam Gokseong-gun (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that it won the Grand Prize at the 4th Korea Cultural Value Awards, achieving the remarkable feat of winning the Excellence Award for three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021, followed by four consecutive years of awards.
The Korea Cultural Value Awards, hosted by the Korea Cultural Value Research Association, evaluate the efforts and achievements of local governments that have contributed to enhancing cultural enjoyment opportunities and quality of life for local residents.
A total of 30 local governments, including Gokseong-gun, were honored for discovering and implementing unique cultural projects specific to their regions.
In this evaluation, Gokseong-gun received high praise for cultural tourism policies that highlight regional originality, such as ▲the creation of the Gokseong-eup Street Gallery, ▲Gokseong Station 1928, ▲operation of the Gichadang Ttukbang Market, and ▲the Gokseong Simcheong Children's Festival.
Additionally, efforts to address COVID-19 by seeking changes in existing projects?such as ▲promoting non-face-to-face events for the Gokseong World Rose Festival, ▲establishing a mobile tourism information service infrastructure, and ▲creating a learning ecosystem in Gokseong that makes everyone from children to adults happy?were also highly recognized for satisfying the cultural needs of local residents.
A Gokseong-gun official stated, “In the 8th elected term, we will strive to provide quality cultural enjoyment opportunities to local residents through diverse and distinctive cultural policies such as fostering culture and tourism-oriented traditional markets, constructing the Gokseong Ecological Library, newly issuing youth culture voucher cards, developing nighttime tourist attractions in the Gajeong Station area, and creating Ping Village.”
