FuturePlay Forms 14.3 Billion KRW 'Unicorn Fund' with Samsung Securities
50 Billion KRW Investment in Seoul Robotics
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] FuturePlay (CEO Ryu Jung-hee) announced on the 22nd that it has partnered with Samsung Securities to establish a personal investment association called the 'Unicorn Fund' worth 14.3 billion KRW. The fund's first investment was a 5 billion KRW investment in the autonomous driving startup Seoul Robotics. This is the largest amount among the follow-up investments executed by FuturePlay.
The newly formed Unicorn Fund is FuturePlay's first fund created as a personal investment association with a securities company, composed entirely of professional investors rather than general investors among high-net-worth individuals. Seoul Robotics, the first investment made alongside the fund's formation, is a startup developing 3D LiDAR software, known as the 'eyes' of autonomous vehicles, and is developing algorithms for interpreting and processing point cloud data from LiDAR sensors.
