Algeti Supplies 5G-Equipped Serving Robots to Daejeon Underground Shopping Mall
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Service robot total solution company RGT announced on the 20th that it has supplied its serving robot, 'Seobot,' to the Daejeon Jungang-ro underground shopping mall.
The Daejeon Jungang-ro underground shopping mall is the largest underground shopping mall in the central region, with a total length of 1,170 meters and about 600 stores. At the end of last year, Daejeon City was selected for the 'AI (Artificial Intelligence)·5G (5th Generation Mobile Communication)-based Service Robot Convergence Model Demonstration Project' conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and various service robot demonstrations are currently underway.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's demonstration project, RGT is applying 5G technology to all Seobots. This is the first time RGT has applied 5G to Seobot. The company explained that compared to the existing Wi-Fi connection method, 5G enables faster communication and more precise location recognition.
Equipped with LiDAR sensors and 3D cameras, Seobot can recognize spaces autonomously and perform real-time autonomous driving. Based on these functions, Seobot carries out food delivery tasks between stores in the large underground shopping mall. When an order is placed, Seobot can be called through POS integration at each store. Currently, three Seobots in the Daejeon Jungang-ro underground shopping mall handle an average of 100 food and beverage delivery orders per day.

He added, "Going forward, RGT plans to supply Seobot to various service sites and will do its best to provide stable service even in new and complex environments."
