Although the ruling and opposition parties had their first meeting 27 days after the committee was formed, the People Power Party (PPP) protested amid the confrontation and collectively walked out.
Park Seong-jung, the PPP's designated secretary, said, "Chairman Jeong claimed that the Science and Technology Committee train always departs on time, misleadingly accusing the PPP of delaying the committee's operation," adding, "That train is a runaway Snowpiercer operating at their own will."
Heo Eun-ah, also from the same party, criticized, "Chairman Jeong proceeds with the standing committee as if demanding unconditional obedience," and said, "Listening to what the Democratic Party says now, it is a typical Democratic Party-style deceptive communication, like a watermelon communication that is different inside and out."

In response, Go Min-jeong, a member of the Democratic Party, counterattacked, saying, "It is frustrating that the People Power Party still seems to mistakenly think they are the opposition," adding, "In a situation where there are many things to settle and approve, it is the ruling party that must urgently urge action."
