[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A man in his 60s, Mr. A, who was holding a solo protest in front of former President Moon Jae-in's residence in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, was arrested by the police on the 16th on charges of threatening another person.
According to the Yangsan Police Station, Mr. A had been continuously holding a solo protest criticizing former President Moon in front of the residence since May 10, the day Moon moved into the Pyeongsan Village residence.
On the 15th, Mr. A reportedly said to former President Moon and his wife, who were out for a walk with security guards, "How dare you come crawling out without fear?"
That morning, while preparing for a solo protest in front of the residence, he caused a disturbance and used abusive language, then threatened a member of the former president’s secretariat with a weapon, leading to his arrest on the spot.
Mr. A is known to be one of four protesters whom former President Moon sued on May 31 for charges of insult and threat.
At that time, he was reportedly preparing protest materials such as installing banners and was holding a box cutter in his hand, but claimed he did not swing it.
