Tesla Surpasses 3 Million Units in Cumulative Production... Chinese Factory Exceeds 1 Million Units
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on the 14th (local time) that Tesla's cumulative electric vehicle production has surpassed 3 million units.
On that day, Musk tweeted that the 1 millionth electric vehicle was produced at the Shanghai factory in China, and that the company's total electric vehicle production has exceeded 3 million units. This achievement came less than a month after producing the 2 millionth electric vehicle at the Fremont factory in California, USA, on the 20th of last month.
The Tesla Shanghai factory experienced disruptions in electric vehicle manufacturing due to the COVID-19 lockdown in April but is analyzed to have quickly overcome these challenges and increased new vehicle production. The Shanghai factory is expected to produce over 600,000 units per month of Tesla's SUV, the Model Y.
