Munin Bukgu Mayor Engages in Candid Conversations on Various Topics with New Public Officials
Sharing Inner Thoughts Through Balance Games and More
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Moon In, the mayor of Buk-gu, Gwangju, shared the true feelings between generations through honest conversations on various topics and formats with newly appointed public officials.
On the 10th, according to Buk-gu, Mayor Moon In and three newly appointed public officials born in the 1990s produced a ‘Honest Talk’ video for the Gwangju Buk-gu Office YouTube channel.
This video is a sequel to the ‘Honest Talk’ produced last March with only new public officials participating, and Buk-gu explained that it was made in response by Mayor Moon, who has always valued frank conversations with new public officials.
The video consists of greetings between Mayor Moon and the new employees, a free talk Q&A session about things they were curious about, a balance game, and a mayor’s pledge challenge.
Although the first meeting between Mayor Moon and the new employees was somewhat awkward and tense, the atmosphere quickly became warm and friendly as they talked.
During the conversation, laughter was caused by generational differences in perceiving the same words differently, and they formed a consensus on shared opinions while unfolding their own stories.
Mayor Moon also left a heartfelt video letter to his spouse who had worked hard supporting the family and during the election period, and in the mayor’s pledge challenge, he expressed his aspiration to become a ‘tall uncle-like mayor’ who warmly embraces the difficulties of residents and employees and responsibly solves them.
The entire 10-minute Honest Talk video can be viewed on the Gwangju Buk-gu Office YouTube channel.
Han Jiwan, an employee at Dongnim-dong Administrative Welfare Center who participated in this Honest Talk, shyly said, “The mayor, whom I usually thought of as difficult, felt like a friendly and warm uncle next door,” and added, “From now on, even if I meet the mayor, I think I can confidently greet him without avoiding him.”
Mayor Moon said, “It was a valuable time to understand the true feelings of new employees,” and “I could see the future of Buk-gu administration in the confident and capable new employees, and I will continue to communicate with employees through various methods.”
