Seongheon Lee, Seodaemun-gu Mayor, Replaces Meeting for Executives Grade 5 and Above with Grade 6 Team Leaders Meeting...Explores District Administration Direction through Candid Meetings with Team Leaders in Charge
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 10th, Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, held an expanded regular executive meeting at the district office auditorium attended by about 150 team leaders of grade 6 and above from all departments.
Until now, regular executive meetings were held for executives of grade 5 and above, such as heads of divisions and sections, but this time, in an unusual format, team leaders of grade 6 and above who are in charge of fieldwork directly reported on major projects and current tasks by department.
Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "It has been about 40 days since my inauguration, and as the mayor, I realized that team leaders play a core role in the district office, so I wanted to communicate directly by listening to their opinions. Please speak frankly about whether we are heading in the direction I aimed for when I took office."
Han, a team leader from the Planning and Budget Division, said, "Due to the nature of the department, we act as a bridge connecting the mayor and the employees," and added, "When employees say 'it's difficult,' I hope the mayor will take another look to see if there are realistic difficulties rather than just reluctance to work. I also ask employees not to simply say 'no' but to bring alternatives," receiving applause from the staff.

Mayor Lee Seong-heon responded, "I will listen carefully to the stories of team leaders working on the ground," and said, "An important aspect of district administration is reflecting various opinions, so in the future, we will introduce a non-face-to-face meeting system to increase opportunities to gather opinions not only from employees but also from residents."
