Laying the Foundation for Municipal Administration by Deciding the Vision System and Policy Guidelines of the 8th Elected Term and Concluding Activities
Vividly Capturing Key Work Reports, Field Visits, and Summary of Campaign Promises
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] The transition committee for the 8th term mayor of Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, completed a white paper on the composition and major activities of the committee to open Mayor Jeong Inhwa’s “Era of Emotion, Warm Gwangyang” and delivered it to Gwangyang City on the 8th.
The Gwangyang Mayor Transition Committee (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Transition Committee’) was formed and operated for the first time following the full revision of the 「Local Autonomy Act」 last year and the enactment of the 「Ordinance on the Operation of the Gwangyang Mayor Transition Committee」 in April this year.
This white paper vividly captures the vision system and administrative policies of the 8th term, core strategies, major activities of the Transition Committee, and policy proposals from the committee, including abundant activity photos to provide a sense of the field.
In particular, it reflects Mayor Jeong Inhwa’s top priority value and philosophy in city administration: ‘the well-being and happiness of citizens.’
The Transition Committee consisted of 15 members across five divisions: public welfare, health and welfare, industrial economy and agriculture and fisheries, youth, employment and veterans affairs, and nature, environment, culture, arts, and tourism. Additionally, 15 advisory committee members, experts in each field, were appointed to complement the professionalism of the Transition Committee.
The committee’s activities began on June 8 with a ‘Report on the Current Status of City Administration and Major Issues’ and quickly grasped city issues through ‘inspections of major facilities and project sites.’
Furthermore, to fulfill the committee’s core role of organizing campaign pledges, 115 pledges were selected through related materials and reports from city departments, and active discussions were held on ways to concretize them. The official activities concluded on June 29.
In the foreword of the white paper, Chairperson Park Yonggeun stated, “The 8th term Gwangyang Mayor Transition Committee focused on how to realize the top priority value of city administration, ‘the well-being and happiness of citizens,’ to meet the aspirations of the citizens.”
He added, “I hope the results created through listening to the voices of youth, parents, and citizens in their daily lives will bloom and bear fruit in the 8th term.”
Mayor Jeong Inhwa, upon receiving the white paper, said, “I sincerely thank the members of the Transition Committee and Advisory Committee who accompanied the preparations for the start of the 8th term and provided great support along with policy proposals.”
The white paper was made public to citizens via the website at the end of July, and the pledges organized by the Transition Committee will be finalized by the end of September through expert and citizen feedback and review and supplementation by the relevant departments, after which a pledge implementation booklet will be distributed.
