They urged them to recall the sensitive reaction the Democratic Party had when the former president's residence was referred to as ‘Abangung’ (a term for a lavish palace).
Park Hyung-soo, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary that "Park Hong-geun, the Democratic Party floor leader, and Woo Sang-ho, the emergency committee chairman, repeatedly made slanderous remarks such as ‘the stench of suspicion is permeating the Yonggung’ and ‘we must no longer tolerate the privatization of power in the Presidential Office’ regarding the presidential residence construction." He pointed out, "The direct contract for the Presidential Office (Blue House) and the residence, which require high-level security, has been done by all previous governments, and the Democratic Party surely knows that the Security Office conducts thorough verification considering construction capability, schedule, and budget."
He added, "The fact that the company mentioned by the Democratic Party ‘did not sponsor Cobana Contents’ was already disclosed by a Presidential Office official to the media, and the stance that ‘the presidential residence construction is a security task conducted under the Security Office’s thorough verification and supervision, so specific details cannot be disclosed’ has also been made clear," emphasizing, "Linking the presidential residence construction with Kim Geon-hee for political strife is not something a responsible major opposition party that was in power until recently should do."

Spokesperson Park said, "The Democratic Party, which showed sensitivity to the term ‘Abangung’ for the former president’s residence, should not ridicule the current president’s workspace by calling it ‘Yonggung’," and added, "The Democratic Party must abandon the double standard of saying it is unacceptable to call the residence of a former president from their party ‘Abangung’ but acceptable to call the current president’s residence ‘Yonggung.’"
