Gokseong-gun, Healthy Palpal Village Physical Activity Program Gains Popularity
Providing Customized Physical Activity Programs by Village for Healthy Living Practices
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Jeonnam Gokseong-gun announced that it has resumed the Healthy Palpal Village project and has been receiving favorable reviews since operating the ‘Wise Physical Activity Program’ from last July.
The Healthy Palpal Village project is a program that provides customized physical activity programs for each village to promote healthy living practices among residents.
Due to COVID-19, Gokseong-gun was unable to carry out the project for about the past two years.
Fortunately, with the full lifting of social distancing this year, the program is being operated in a total of 16 villages, combining five hopeful villages from the 2020-2021 target villages and 11 newly designated Healthy Palpal Villages in 2022, each with customized physical activity programs.
The program is tailored to each village and includes walking, gymnastics, yoga, laughter therapy, etc., so that residents can easily practice it even in their busy daily lives.
In particular, by having health instructors participate in the program, physical strength can be strengthened more professionally and effectively.
At the same time, Gokseong-gun is conducting COVID-19 prevention activities while operating the program. They visit village senior centers to provide guidance on the 4th COVID-19 vaccination for those aged 50 and over, proper mask-wearing methods, and check compliance with quarantine rules in preparation for the resurgence of COVID-19.
Resident A said, “Through yoga, my body and mind feel lighter, and it is easy to follow at home, which greatly helps in managing my health. I look forward to the next session.”
A Gokseong-gun official stated, “We hope that through the Healthy Palpal Village, residents will lead healthy lives and strengthen bonds among residents.”
