Special Investigation Team for Late Lee Yeram, Arrest Warrant Issued for Military Court Civilian Employee Over 'Confidential Information Leak'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The special investigation team led by Special Prosecutor Ahn Mi-young (55, 25th Judicial Research and Training Institute), investigating the death case of Air Force Sergeant Lee Ye-ram, a victim of sexual violence, has requested an arrest warrant for military civilian employee Yang Mo of the Ministry of National Defense High Military Court on charges of leaking the progress of the pre-trial detention hearing (warrant hearing) of the sexual violence perpetrator to the outside.
On the 4th, the special investigation team stated, "We have requested a preliminary arrest warrant for a military civilian employee of the Ministry of National Defense Military Court on charges including official secret leakage." This is the first arrest warrant request by the special investigation team.
The special investigation team explained the reason for the warrant request, saying, "Additional criminal charges were confirmed based on newly secured evidence through searches, digital evidence analysis, and investigations of related parties."
Yang was previously investigated by the Ministry of National Defense prosecution team last year on suspicion of leaking the progress of the warrant hearing of perpetrator Sergeant Jang Mo to Jeon Ik-su, Air Force Legal Office Chief (52, Brigadier General), but was not prosecuted.
However, the National Human Rights Commission, which conducted an ex officio investigation into the case, pointed out that Jeon and Yang had a phone call the day before the execution of the search and seizure at the Air Force Headquarters Legal Office affiliate and recommended further investigation.
