Daejeon City Supports Appointment of Representatives for 'Local Tax Objection Requests'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City supports the appointment of selected agents when filing appeals against local taxes.
According to the city on the 4th, the agent system was introduced and has been operated since March 2020 to help low-income taxpayers who raise objections to local tax impositions by providing free agents to assist with legal review, consultation, and supplementation of evidence documents.
This system allows individual taxpayers with appeal amounts of 10 million KRW or less to appoint selected agents during appeal procedures such as pre-assessment review requests or objections against local tax imposition decisions.
At this time, taxpayers can use the system if their property value, including that of their spouse, is 500 million KRW or less and their comprehensive income amount, including their spouse, is 50 million KRW or less.
However, corporations and high-amount or habitual tax delinquents are excluded from eligibility, and selected agents can be appointed for tax items excluding tobacco consumption tax, local consumption tax, and leisure tax.
The city emphasizes that it will help citizens protect their rights more easily by proceeding with appeal procedures with the assistance of selected agents composed of tax accountants and others.
