On the afternoon of the 3rd (local time), Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, who is visiting Ho Chi Minh City, appointed him at the Seoul Tourism Presentation 'SOULFUL SEOUL NIGHT' held at Lotte Hotel Saigon in Ho Chi Minh, and requested, "Please take the lead in promoting 'Seoul, the Special City of Charm' as a bridge between Seoul and Vietnam."
Since his appointment as head coach of the Vietnam national football team in 2017, Coach Park has achieved consecutive good results and has been recognized as a football hero in Vietnam. Starting with leading Vietnam to its best-ever runner-up finish at the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championship, he also led the team to its first-ever semifinals at the Asian Games the same year. Subsequently, at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA), he secured Vietnam's first championship and achieved back-to-back wins this year.
Mayor Oh praised, "Thanks to Coach Park's brilliant performance, I believe the Vietnamese people's favorable feelings toward Korea and Seoul have increased."
In response, Coach Park said, "I feel it is my mission to give back at least a little for the love I have received," adding, "I hope tourism between the two countries becomes more active than before COVID-19, and as a citizen of Seoul, I will do my best to serve as a private diplomat in Vietnam."
