Operation of Construction Work Unfair Practice Reporting Center... "Up to 500,000 Won Reward for Whistleblowers"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Regional reporting centers dedicated to receiving and investigating various unfair practices occurring in construction projects will be fully operational starting from the 4th.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 3rd that the "Fair Construction Support Centers," currently operated by five Regional Land Management Offices (Seoul, Wonju, Daejeon, Iksan, Busan) to handle reports of unfair practices against construction technicians, will from the 4th also handle reports related to all unfair practices in construction projects.
This expansion of the Fair Construction Support Centers' scope of work follows the enforcement of the revised Framework Act on the Construction Industry, which took effect on the 4th after being amended in February. According to the revised law, anyone can report unfair practices related to construction projects to the regional Fair Construction Support Centers.
If the reported content is confirmed to be true and administrative action is taken by the competent authority, the whistleblower who first submitted the facts and evidence of the unfair practice will receive a reward of up to 500,000 KRW within three months after the action.
