[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam, is pilot-testing the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Companion Doll Support Project’ as part of its non-face-to-face care services in response to COVID-19.
According to the county on the 3rd, the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Companion Doll Support Project’ distributes AI dolls to high-risk elderly living alone with mild dementia, depression, and other conditions, providing various services such as daily care including medication reminders, companionship, and emergency situation monitoring.
The county, in cooperation with health centers and eup/myeon offices, identified and selected 30 project participants and has begun full-scale project implementation by completing training on how to use the dolls for the elderly involved.
During the pilot operation period, the county plans to continuously establish and supplement various response guidelines for situations that may arise during the project by matching elderly care personnel one-on-one.
Additionally, after the project period ends, satisfaction surveys and effectiveness analyses will be conducted, and if the effectiveness is verified, the project will be expanded in earnest starting next year.
A county official said, “We expect the companion dolls to greatly help not only in managing the health and emotions of the elderly but also in preventing various accidents,” adding, “We will continue to expand and discover various welfare policies to ensure healthy and stable lives for the elderly.”
