Gangjin-gun Holds Direct Trade Event for Agricultural and Marine Specialties at Jogyesa Temple in Seoul
Opened for the first time in 3 years since COVID-19, generating 24 million won in sales
[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do held a direct transaction event for three days starting from the 29th at Jogyesa Temple in Seoul to promote and revitalize the sales of excellent local agricultural and marine specialty products in major cities.
Jogyesa Temple is located in the heart of Jongno, Seoul, and is known as the number one destination for Korean temple visits among urban residents and foreigners.
Since 2012, the county has operated a direct transaction market for Gangjin agricultural and marine specialty products at Jogyesa once or twice a year, but the event was suspended for three years due to the nationwide spread of COVID-19. It was recently resumed following the relaxation of quarantine guidelines.
This event was led by the Gangjin-gun Direct Transaction Business Group, which spearheads the distribution of Gangjin agricultural and marine specialty products. Eight production organizations showcased over 40 items including oat rice, mixed grains, mushrooms, gim (seaweed), and miyeok (sea mustard), with producers directly selling their products over three days, generating sales of approximately 24 million KRW.
In particular, lotus leaf snacks, jackbean tea, shiitake mushrooms, and miyeok were popular items, demonstrating the excellence of Gangjin's agricultural and marine specialty products.
Song Seung-eon, Director of Agricultural Policy, stated, “We will continue to promote the excellence of Gangjin agricultural and marine specialty products and work to expand sales channels to increase the income of farmers and fishermen through ongoing direct transaction events in major cities such as Seoul and Gwangju.”
