Est?e Lauder Negotiates Acquisition of Luxury Fashion Brand Tom Ford for Over $3 Billion
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Global cosmetics company Est?e Lauder is reportedly in negotiations to acquire luxury fashion brand Tom Ford, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 1st (local time).
According to the report, the acquisition price is over $3 billion, and if successful, it would be the largest deal in Est?e Lauder's history.
Headquartered in New York, Est?e Lauder sells cosmetics, perfumes, and skincare products. Its major brands include MAC, Clinique, and La Mer. Its market capitalization reaches $100 billion.
However, WSJ also noted that the acquisition negotiations are not guaranteed to reach an agreement. A source stated that Est?e Lauder is not the only party interested in acquiring Tom Ford.
Tom Ford, a privately held company, is a fashion brand well known for menswear. It also sells womenswear, accessories, high-end cosmetics, and perfumes. Est?e Lauder is particularly interested in the beauty segment, with which it has a long-term licensing agreement, and the source mentioned that licensing for the apparel line is also possible.
