The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is initiating the establishment of the Printing Promotion Foundation to respond to the rapid environmental changes in the global printing industry. The foundation will undertake projects that individual companies find difficult to attempt, such as supporting digitalization and the development of eco-friendly printing technologies, and providing long-term leasing support for printing equipment.
Specifically, the ministry will develop and distribute Chinese character fonts and printing image materials, support patent development and registration for printing materials and equipment parts, and provide expert consultations. It will regularly investigate changes and current status of the printing culture industry and publish an industry white paper biennially reflecting these findings.
Efforts will also be made to cultivate professional manpower. The ministry will select ‘Printing Masters’ to focus on passing down printing techniques, and operate a Printing Technology Support Group that fosters cooperation between retired personnel who have worked in printing and printing manufacturers. Additionally, it will realistically reform national technical qualification categories and exam subjects in the printing field and develop educational materials.
Support for exploring export market channels will also be provided. The ministry plans to create export opportunities through hosting international printing exhibitions. It will offer comprehensive export information via a printing export support platform and assist with on-site tasks such as interpretation and quotation preparation.
Support measures have also been prepared in line with the trend of the printing industry shifting towards an eco-friendly industry. To enhance the quality competitiveness of printed materials, the ministry will support the development of eco-friendly printing materials such as eco-friendly inks and cleaning agents, as well as research on technologies in the eco-friendly printing field.
